Both speakers used numerous antisemitic tropes in their talks. Theo Goldberg demonized Israel by falsely accusing it of “exploitative racism” similar to South Africa, and “eliminationist racism” similar to the Nazis. He continued the Nazi analogy by falsely accusing Israelis of thinking of Palestinians as “vermin, cockroaches, rats, snakes…that take boots on the ground to get rid of,” and of having “a commitment to purification.” Theo Goldberg further demonized Israel with an illusion to the Biblical commandment of “an eye for an eye” by claiming that Israel’s “official policy” was “‘many lives for an eye, and multiple lives for a life.’” He also falsely accused Israelis of making “snuff films,” claiming that Israeli police kill innocent Palestinians “fairly randomly,” and then have ordinary Jewish Israeli citizens record the killing and post the recordings on line, which results in “an orgasm of feeling” for Israelis when the recordings go viral. Finally, Theo Goldberg falsely accused Israel of being an “apartheid” state. David Lloyd also falsely accused Israel of being an “apartheid” state, saying that Israel committed “inhumane acts…in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination,” and is “a colonial Zionist project that has become a…nightmare, ever more rigid and oppressive.” Lloyd falsely accused Zionism of “fascism” and Zionists who complain of antisemitism as being racist and “suppressing speech.” He said that the idea of “a Jewish state for a Jewish people” was “utter stupidity,” and he called for Israel to stop being a Jewish state. Finally, Lloyd said that Palestinians have the right to take up arms to fight Israel, and he also promoted BDS as another important way to achieve an end to the Jewish state, saying that “academic freedom” must afford activists protection to promote BDS at the university.
