Professor Manzar Foroohar announces Ilan Pappe talk at Cal Poly

Subject: Mark your calendar -- Important lecture on the Middle East

Dear Colleagues,

Ilan Pappé, a scholar on the modern Middle East and the history of Israel and Palestine, will present “Arab Spring and Palestine/Israel Peace Process” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Chumash Auditorium at Cal Poly. (See the attachment)

Pappé is a history professor at Exeter University in the United Kingdom, where he also serves as director of the European Centre for Palestine Studies and co-director for the Exeter Centre for Ethno-Political Studies. Pappé was a senior lecturer in the department of Middle Eastern History and the Department of Political Science at Haifa University from 1984 to 2006.

His research on the modern Middle East focuses in particular on the history of Israel and Palestine. His publications include “Peoples Apart,” “The Bureaucracy of Evil,” “The Forgotten Palestinians: A History of the Palestinian Minority in Israel,” “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine,” “The Modern Middle East,” “A History of Modern Palestine: One Land, Two Peoples,” and “Britain and the Arab-Israeli Conflict.”

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Cal Poly’s History Department. Please announce the event in your classes and invite your students to attend.
